Manuals contains all necessary stuff. User interface is fluid, so there is not really a "learning curve".
Solaris has a very chirurgical approach, and playing skill will help you a lot, because you will be able to calibrate your sound personnally with your playing taste.
In case you miss the post on solaris facebook group, you can now get the presets demoed on my 3 last youtube vids (look a the news here https://www.johnbowen.com/news/160-2021-01-03-01-03-19.html)
After having freely given 182 presets, I try the adventure of money awarded presets :) (17 euros)
yes,
if forgot to say to you in my last mail,
if we could have a choosen gate time on the sequencer (between 0% and 100%), it would be very cool
(because actually need to handle this with release time for the stabs ...)
the manual says
"Volume adds or subtracts from all VCA levels of the Part"
i think the approach was to avoid a multiplication in the calculation of final volume.
i don't know if the add or subtracts on the modulation level could be easy to do ...
it's only when vca part are modulated for example i have a -drum seq patch with snare on vca2 0% modulated by eg2 100% -stabs patch with vca4 0% modulated by btn2 75% both are not affected by Multi Volume (the menu Multi to control Volume of each part of multitimbral)
Playing 24 custom patches for John Bowen Solaris 1 Pad Analog (try to made my best for something analog) 2 Pad Vintage (variation of 1 more shiny less delay) 3 Synth Pluck MW (lots of feedback for filter decay) 4 Pad Lush (lots of feedback for the best ...
my perception (after having published more than 180 presets)
+50€ -display of joystick coordinate x y in real time i think it is cheap to do, the help provides by this one can save lot of search time. i think it can be done for mod wheel pitch wheel and ruban too. option : record joystick moves ...
otherwise i will have to put advised vt curve in the preset name but it is a little sad
i tried to modify some presets without using it but it is really a headhash
specially for "electric pianos" preset types where velocity is already involved in a lot of modulations
