Sustain pedal has no effect

Post by fschenckel »

Hello everybody,

I would klike to use a YAmaha FC5 sustain pedal with the Solaris. But there is really no reaction from the synth to the sustain activation.
The sustain is not reversed, what's often the case, triggering the pedal does really nothing !

Is there a setting to activate the sustain pedal ?

Thanks !
Best regards

Thanks for reporting this. I normally use a Studiologic VFP2 dual pedal which is working fine. But I happen to have an FC5 pedal which I just checked and you're correct that something is not working right with it. I'll look into it.

I need to correct my last post. I thought the pedal I have was a Yamaha FC5 but it isn't. It's an FC3 which is the half-damper pedal. The FC3 is a bit odd and won't work for the Solaris.

We have tried a Yamaha FC4A and that works. I've tried a couple of simple switch pedals labeled PS-10 (maybe an old Yamaha) and PS-100 (maybe Fatar or Studiologic) and those work OK.

So I'm not sure why the FC5 would not work. I could only suggest things you may have already tried like making sure it works on another keyboard. Also, keep in mind that there's a global pedal setting in the System menu that overrides the setting in the Home page. The setting in the Home page is saved with the preset. The setting in the System page can be set to either an overriding value or to just use whatever the current preset is set to. Make sure that's not set to Off.

Hello,

I've checked the settings, and yes this solves the problem. Per default the sustain pedal was not enabled neither the polarity !
Thanks !
