Calibration result not kept

Hi everybody,

Each time I start my Solaris, a calibration of the different controls is needed, pitch wheel, mod wheel, ribbon, joystick...
Once I do the calibration all works correctly since next reboot.

What kind of problem could this be ? Low battery ?

Thanks !
Best regards

I am not aware of any battery inside to retain these settings. Possible corruption of RAM? I will ask...

What version of the OS are you using?
Are you entering the calibration process by pressing the three buttons 1, 3, and 8? Or by pressing Enter when booting starts? (Please do the former.)

There is no battery in the Solaris. Calibration settings are saved to non-volatile flash memory.

Hi,

I'm having a similar problem: the Mod wheel and the Aftertouch are not calibrated. I used the 1+3+8 procedure, calibrated them, exited, and the Mod wheel and the Aftertouch worked correctly... Until I rebooted and the calibration is lost...

(To John: I still have the Pitch wheel problem we discussed by mail)

Is it the case that all controllers are not remembering their calibration? (including pitch wheel, ribbon, joystick, expression pedal)
Or is it just the mod wheel and aftertouch?

Also, what version of the OS are you using? You can find the OS version number on the System page 4/4.

I'm not in front of the unit until Monday, but if I remember well, it's the latest OS version. I'll check Monday to see if it's the same with other controllers.

I can also downgrade the OS to see if it's related to a particular version. Which one do you think I should test first?

[EDIT]

ok, so I checked, it's with 2.2.0.
Like the wheel and the after touch, the joystick calibration "is not saved".

I downgraded to 2.1.0, and the calibration works, without setting up the calibration.

So my guess is 2.2.0 is successfully saving the calibration, but is not able to load it after a power cycle.

Hello,

Sorry for this late reply, yes it's the latest version 2.2.0. Entering the calibration at boot start doesn't work either.
During boot calibration, ribbon has no values (No reaction, with 1+3+8 it has).

Regards

For me the, the ribbon has "no value" too. The 1+3+8 calibration does not seem to detect it.
When requesting the 'rightmost position', no value is displayed.
When requesting the 'leftmost position', a line with 'Position: -1' appears, but pressing the leftmost position does not modify the '-1' value.
After calibration the screen displays: 'set Min to -1 and Max to -1'

(and this is with 2.1.0 this time)

It will be kind of difficult for me to diagnose what the problem is because I cannot reproduce it here. I am able to calibrate OK with any version of the OS.

stefanovic, if calibration works fine for you in version 2.1.0 but not in version 2.2.0 so far I cannot see a reason for that. At first I suspected that there might be some area of the flash memory that was not holding the data but that shouldn't be the case if version 2.1.0 works for you. And if everything works in other versions than that would seem to rule out any other type of hardware issue. I don't know what's going on with the ribbon values as I can't reproduce that either.

Remember the way to test for sure is to calibrate the control wrongly and then save that. For example what I do when calibrating the modulation wheel and it asks me for the minimum position I move it to the halfway point instead. Then save and reboot. Then when I use the mod wheel it doesn't have any effect until I get to the midway point. So I know it saved the new data and isn't just using the old data.

But so far I don't have any other ideas yet without being able to reproduce it myself.
